believe I know what you’re thinking. No, you’re not thinking about the somewhat forced alliteration in my headline above. That’s way too obvious. You’re thinking about something else—something special. You see, for the last six years—ever since we began working on SWANsat—I’ve been thinking about that “something special” myself.

I’ve been thinking about how to keep Big Brother out of my email box. And maybe out of my GPS chipset. And more than that, I’ve been thinking about how to keep anybody who does not belong in my private life way out on the peripheral of my life, where they belong.

In short, I’ve been thinking about Cyber-Security.

How to CYVA and Still be Protected

Just how do you CYVA in an information interchange medium as powerful as what SWANsat promises to be? The acronym stands for “Cover Your Virtual Assets.” Well, maybe that last word in the acronym should be three letters shorter than that.

The problem is a challenge. What if some cyber-stalker uses GPS technology or E911 location capabilities to track down a 13-year old so he can molest her after meeting her at some cyber-café? Can’t you just hear the backlash against the cell phone company that provided that technology? The attorneys are already standing in line to sue. They’re waiting for the right case to come along.

I can just feel them out there. Never mind that it was the Federal Communication Commission that mandated that E911 technology be installed and activated in mobile communication devices. The cell phone companies don’t have a choice about whether they’re going to implement the technology or not. They are required by federal law to do so.

The CYVA Cyber Security Solution

CYVA Research is a system integrator and software developer located in San Diego, California. The company provides consultant services to information systems and technology firms. One of the key priorities of CYVA Research has been its commitment to promoting the socially responsible use of computing technology. Fundamental issues facing digital commerce and information society as a whole are informational privacy and informational self-determination. To address these concerns, CYVA created and patented a new hybrid of technologies to equip people and their chosen communities with an assertive means to protect and enjoy the benefits of being digital.

CYVA’s Trusted Network Community

CYVA’s e-Metro™ is a branded Trusted Network Community™—or TNC™ for short. E-Metro™ comprises a set of systems, applications, and components that together make up a comprehensive framework to address head-on the informational privacy and informational self-determination concerns of citizens.

CYVA’s technology will wrap an electronic envelope securely around all SWANsat member information interchanges, including GPS tracking. This will empower a novel set of services built to meet the growing demand and requirement for trusted, accountable, and equitable utilization of personal information assets. In short, by endorsing and sponsoring the development and rollout of CYVA’s Trusted Information Utility, we’ll be doing our part to keep Big Brother out of your information cookie jar. For good.
